We have very dear, kind friends who allowed us the use of their cabin in Fort Payne for fall break, and again this week for spring break. It is a treasure of a place, and we love it! There is no internet or cell service, miles of trails, and plenty of time to just be together and relax.
Dan arrived home from Alaska on Saturday, and we thought we would head to Fort Payne on Monday or Tuesday, but the kids were begging to go on Sunday, so after church, we threw some things in a bad and headed north!
About 8 o'clock, Tucker gave it up:
We didn't arrive until around 10 p.m.,
but it was SO worth it to wake up there the next morning.
The kids were happy to greet the farm animals from next door.
As soon as the sun was high enough in the sky to knock the chill off, we hit the trails. Our first stop was one of our favorites: Martha's Falls!
The last time we were there, it was a drought,
and the falls were completely dry.
SUPER neat to see the water running!
They were so excited when we let them put their feet in!
It was so cold they couldn't stand it for more than a minute or two at a time!
After we made it back, we found a little dive nearby with food.
Dan made his burger a double because he was starving...ha!
Back at the cabin, the kids begged for a ride on the 4-wheeler.
We all slept so well that night!
There's just something about that fresh air and sunshine.
