Berry compote

Team Davis LOVES berries,
and sometimes I will buy (or we will pick) so many
that we can't get through them before they start to spoil.
Wasted berries will break your heart, right?!

Here's our favorite thing to do with them 
if we know we aren't going to be able to eat them all:

Simple Berry Compote
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
berries or stone fruit

In a small pot, combine sugar + water and bring to a boil, to create a simply syrup.  
Chop up fruit in to small, bite-sized pieces and add to the pot.
Return to a boil.
Reduce heat to low, and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Cool slightly before serving.
Serve over almost anything: toast, biscuits, pancakes,'s so yummy.
You can cool completely and store in the fridge for a week or so.
