Homemade Sloppy Joes


Last week, someone mentioned that they were having sloppy joes for dinner, and my children had no idea what they were talking about!  I'm a failure as a mother!

So tonight I remedied that situation with delicious homemade sloppy joes.
My friend Wynell shared their family's recipe, and they were truly delicious.
We served them with fries and steamed broccoli, and it was a hit!

Sloppy Joes
Ingredients*:
1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 medium onion, very finely chopped
1 can diced tomatoes
1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup barbecue sauce
1 Tbs W sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar, not packed
salt and pepper
hamburger buns (we prefer potato buns, but some like regular buns buttered and toasted)

Directions:
Cook ground beef and onion in a large skillet until browned.
Drain well, and return to skillet.

Stir in tomatoes, ketchup, W sauce, bbq sauce, brown sugar, salt, and pepper.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes or until thickened.
Serve on bun.

*These portions fed the 4 of us perfectly, but our children are small.  If you have a bigger family or teenagers who eat a lot, I would probably double up.
