DNow2013: Rooted

This weekend was our Disciple Now weekend with our Heritage students.
God was so kind to us -
He made his presence known, and He changed us.

Our focus was being rooted in Christ,
as Colossians 2:6-7 exhorts us:
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

One of the sweetest blessings from the weekend was the group of leaders that God gave to us.  These leaders stay in the host homes with students, leading their Bible study and discussion session time.
The two guys all the way on the left are Dakota and Drew,
and they were kids in the children's ministry we served in years ago.
It is SO precious to see them pouring into our students now.
This group is WILD about Jesus, and they pushed our students toward the same.

It's Easy Being Green: 1st Grade Play

Today the entire 1st grade performed the musical It's Easy Being Green!

Mrs. Moorhead's class

Each class had their own special song to sing -
our class song was about how we can be "green" around the house.
Click this link to watch.

Lana even sang a duet.
This was such a big deal for us because she had to choose to "audition" for the music teacher, Mr. Passmore.  We are so proud of how brave she is becoming!

Sweet friends

We are so proud of our first grader!
They all did an excellent job.
This picture of her makes me so happy,
because it will always make me think of what Dan said sitting beside me.
We were all applauding, and he got a little teary eyed, and said,
"Rachael, she is so beautiful.  She's the most beautiful girl on that stage!"
She is completely adored by her daddy in every way -
there is nothing in this world that could make me happier.

1st Grade Grandparent Luncheon

Each year, the Lipscomb PTA hosts a "Grandparent Luncheon" for each grade level.
This year, I am on the PTA board for the first time,
and I can tell you from the inside that it is a LOT of work,
but it is so worth it!

We are so thankful to live close to our family these days -
Lana had nearly a whole table full of grandparents!

with Nana & PawPaw, Dan's parents

with my grandmother and her great-grandmother, Mama Sue

with my mama, Sue Sue

After a really special lunch together,
Dan & his parents went water-heater shopping,
and the rest of us went to Baskin Robbins.
I think we got the better end of the deal:

Choosing flavors is hard work!

Big sis has taught him how to be a good sharer:

He likes to be on the receiving end, too!  :)
I love this picture - his own cone in one hand, digging into Mama Sue's sundae with the other.

After we had ice cream, we went back to our house for some snuggles:

and treats!
Mom brought the kids Valentines bags full of goodies.
Tucker was so proud of his Spiderman hat and "underwear like Daddy,"
and Lana was thrilled about her journal with her initial on it.
My mama knows my kids so well.

This PTA mom is so proud to be Lana's mama,
and thankful to have parents who love her, too.

Sibling love.

This series of pictures makes me smile so much.
Tucker wants to swing on that thing so badly, but he can't balance himself yet.
Lana devised a system to help him out.
You can see their love for each other written all over their faces.
