Life with Lana today (11 months)

Allana is 11 months old today!  It's unbelievable how fast this year is coming to a close.  Every month, I find myself thinking, "Oh, this is my favorite age!"  And then the next month, "Oh, no, THIS is my favorite age!"  We are just having a ball watching her grown and learn.  Her little personality is really emerging, and as Dan says, Allana Marie is rather "spicy!"  Kiss
Our spicy little girl isn't so spicy right now, though.  She has come down with a terrible stomach bug, and has been suffering with vomiting and diarrhea for over 48 hours now.  We're trying to keep enough fluids in her to keep her from dehydrating, but it's a constant battle.  She is so pitiful...all she wants is to be held or to lay in her bed and sleep.  We can tell she's hungry...she crawls to the pantry and cries!  But every time we give her a little bite of something, it comes right back up!  Please pray for her health this week.

Lana's latest accomplishment is her growing vocabulary.  Although she cannot articulate each word perfectly, she is definitely using words to talk about things around her.  Here are the words she has learned to say so far:
  • dada
  • thank you
  • uh-oh
  • Jake
  • mama
  • cat
  • dog
  • three
  • down
  • this
  • out
  • snack
  • paw paw
  • yummy
  • duck
  • done
  • frog
I would like to point out that her cousin's name (Jake) came before"mama"!!  But so did "thank you," and I'm proud that she's going to be a polite little girl

Our 5th anniversary

Lana has been with family members during the past week as Dan & I took a cruise for our 5th anniversary.  She stayed a few days with her Uncle Brother, Aunt Janika, and cousin Jake.  Then she stayed a few days with her Nana and PawPaw (Dan's parents), and spent lots of time playing with her Uncle Barcus, Aunt Mackenzie, and cousin Noah.  And then she stayed a few days with her Sue Sue (Rachael's mom).

By all accounts, she has had a wonderful time and has been very good for everyone.  We are in the airport on our way home today, and we cannot wait to get our hands on her - how we have missed her!

Her grandparents, aunt and uncle all say she has learned lots of new tricks!  We're told she can say her cousin Jake's name, give "big hugs", pat her head when you ask her "where's the pretty baby?", point to herself when you ask "where's Lana?", crawl to her pack and play to go to sleep when you ask if she wants her lovey, knows the flashcards for ice, cat, and dog, and can stand unassisted for 6 or 7 seconds at a time.  Are they all just bragging or has she really learned to do all these things while we've been away??

Here are a few pictures of the fun WE'VE been having:
